Daily Manila Shimbun

The Daily Manila Shimbun (DMS) was first distributed in Metro Manila on May 3, 1992, as the Kyodo News Daily (KND). Initially, it carried wire stories from Japan’s largest news agency, Kyodo. By 1996, it became an independent publication under its current name.
DMS is known for delivering relevant, accurate, and timely information with a commitment to fair and balanced reporting. It has been recognized as the best expatriate Japanese newspaper by the Association of Japanese Newspapers Published Overseas in 2000, 2001, 2004, and 2005. As of 2021, in its 29th year, DMS employs 11 Japanese journalists and 17 Filipino staff, maintaining its position as the only Japanese daily broadsheet in the Philippines.

Its free paper counterpart, Navi Manila, has been providing readers with insightful content on lifestyle, culture, and entertainment for the past 16 years. With the relaunch of our print editions, we aim to introduce new content that caters to a wider audience, alongside a revamped brand identity and market presence. This move demonstrates our company’s stability and growing legacy as one of the premier media partners and reliable sources of information in the country.
